JAÑELLE BARNES, LMSW, Therapy Associate
Approach to Therapy
Jañelle holds a dual Master’s degree in Social Work and Human Sexuality Studies from Widener University, Chester, PA. These degrees make her both knowledgeable about, and qualified to address, topics relating to sex and sexuality. These topics include, but are not limited to, intimacy concerns, sexual dysfunctions, experiences with sexual abuse, and concerns specific to members of the LGBTQ+ communities. Jañelle takes a trauma-focused, strengths-based, systemic approach to therapy, and she integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) into treatment. This combination of perspectives and interventions allows her to simultaneously privilege her clients’ power and hold space for the hurt that they have experienced, while also acknowledging how the clients’ relationships and environments have shaped them as adults. Jañelle aims to create a safe and warm environment in which clients feel secure in their strengths, and comfortable challenging themselves.
