Approach to Therapy
Barbara completed her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University, 2013. She works with children, families, and individuals of all ages. She has a passion for working with pre-marital couples, children and families. She is trained in play therapy, solution-focused therapy, and attachment theory. She utilizes a holistic approach helping clients explore and understand the connection between mind, spirit, and body. She seeks to provide a safe and compassionate environment that empowers the client to both identify and reach their therapeutic goals and flourish in their life. Central to her approach in counseling is the belief that when people experience hope they are free to encounter change. She is passionate about helping clients to explore and discover the hope and vitality of their Christian faith to grow and change.
Barbara has extensive experience in church ministry. She is active in children’s ministry teaching elementary-aged children. Barbara brings to Heartmatters NYC her experience with children who have great challenges and great strengths. She delights in working with children and their families to build a strong foundation for them to thrive and be successful.
Barbara holds a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA 2013
License & Certification
LMHC NY State Limited permit. She is a candidate for full NY State license.
